At Lake Socorro, we all play a part in keeping our waters clean, safe, and free from invasive species like zebra mussels. That’s why we require an inspection for all watercraft—including boats, jet skis, and similar vehicles—the very first time they’re introduced to our lake.
First-Time Watercraft Inspections Before launching any new or used watercraft on Lake Socorro for the first time, please schedule an inspection with one of our designated inspectors:
If your watercraft is brand new, or if it’s used but hasn’t been in any body of water for at least 14 days (either by sitting in your driveway or with a dealer’s letter confirming it), you’ll be cleared for inspection. When you schedule your appointment, please have your registration and proof of insurance handy.
After Your First Inspection For every watercraft that’s already been inspected and is returning to the lake, we use the honor system. Please only launch your boat, jet ski, or other watercraft if you know it hasn’t been in any other body of water within the last 14 days. While we prefer that watercraft are used only at Lake Socorro, we understand that’s not always realistic—so we trust our residents to protect the lake by following this important guideline.
